In July, Alexander Wang announced that he will step down as creative director of Balenciaga on October 2 after less than three years in the role. His departure is said to be a result of his wish to focus on his successful brand – and that’s exactly what he is doing now. The brand is celebrating its tenth anniversary. One part of the celebration is #Wang10, a capsule collection of the 10 most-loved items of the last decade as chosen by customers, and part two is absolutely selfless.
What better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of one of the most notable names in fashion. We all gotta take a page from Alexander Wang’s book; Wang invited as many celebrity friends as possible and partnered with the non-profit organization Do Something. Wang had over 30 celebrities to unveil some of the pieces in his 10th anniversary capsule collection. Read more below.
Wang designed hoodies and T-shirts, from which 50 per cent of the profits will go straight to the organisation. But he did not stop there; to highlight the cause he enlisted 37 of his most famous and influential friends for a series of portraits photographed by Steven Klein. Celebrities including; Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Lauren Hutton, Rod Stewart and many more all posed in their Do Something piece and featured in the campaign for the great cause.
Wang’s capsule collection of t-shirts (£35) and hoodies (£65) are available exclusively from alexanderwang.com and in Alexander Wang stores worldwide. With 50% of the retail price of these items will be used to support DoSomething.org, why not grab yourself a pair.
