As one of the biggest celebrities in show business right now, it’s understandable that Kim Kardashian has countless fans that go out of their way to recreate her iconic look. But for beauty blogger Sonia Ali, achieving Kim Kardashian level glamour is a little easier. The British beauty, who is now based in Dubai, regularly gets mistaken for Kim, with some fans saying she is even prettier than the world-class celebrity. Sonia, however, insists that she doesn’t actually see the resemblance herself, despite the two sharing similar chiseled cheekbones, full lips and long black hair.
Sonia and her sister Fyza, a makeup artist, run the Instagram page @soniaxfyza. The blogger, who admits to being a beauty addict, often acts as Fyza’s muse, posing in photographs whilst sporting a variety of her sister’s makeup looks. Although the two beauty gurus specialise in makeup for Eastern-European skin, that doesn’t stop them working from celebrities such as Helen Flanagan and Naomi Harris, dividing their time between London and Dubai.
They currently have over 47,000 followers on Instagram, all earned through Sonia’s striking resemblance to Kim Kardashian. Sonia said: ‘My sister and I love Kim Kardashian’s makeup. Fyza likes to experiment with celebrity-inspired looks on me so we have recreated her looks a few times. As for her fashion, I don’t really take inspiration from her outfits because our bodies are different and what she wears wouldn’t flatter me. Companies have sent us Kim-inspired outfits, but only once or twice we agreed to wear and advertise for them, which is why you will see some similar clothing items. Other than that my style is more casual with bomber jackets and converse.’
Sonia told Buzzfeed: ‘I always get it at airports and when I’m shopping, more when I visit the USA. I have never seen it but my family and friends always would say there was a resemblance. Regardless of what look I go for, there will always be that one person who mentions that I look like her.’
Despite a majority of Sonia and Fyza’s Instagram followers being Middle-Eastern, with each photo regularly gaining up to 5,000 likes, they understand the influence the Kardashians have had on Western culture. ‘We like the way they made it acceptable to be dark-haired, tanned and curvy to society. Growing up in the West it was always “better” to be the fair-skinned, blue-eyed girl. We appreciate their style and look at them as business women.’
