Everything You Need To Know About Pokemon Go

Gamer or not, everyone is aware of the latest craze that appears to be sweeping the entire world – Pokémon Go. However, not everyone will quite understand this trend. Read on to find out everything you need to know about Pokémon Go, and just why people are losing their S*** trying to play it.

Pokémon Go is a virtual game you can play on your phone. The aim is to discover Pokémon in the actual world (via your phone screens). Initially the game began in Japan, America, Australia, and New Zealand, whilst Europe looked on in envious frustration. The Pokémon frenzy began this week, when it was finally launched in Europe.

This game appears to be similar to Geo Caching in so much as you use your phone to discover things in the real world. However, Pokémon Go has gone one step further, with the aim being to discover a virtual Pokémon instead. A super-clever programme called the Real World Gaming Platform utilises real locations so that players can hunt for Pokémon.

The aim of the game is to catch as many Pokémon as is humanly possible. There are over one hundred different Pokémon in a player’s vicinity. Once a Pokémon is nearby, your phone will beep or vibrate, and you must catch it by throwing a virtual Poke ball at it, via your phone screen – because nets just would not work!

Basically, the more Pokémon you catch, the further up the levels you climb, thus becoming a better ‘trainer’. As your collection of Pokémon increases, so will your assortment of cool equipment and tools for snaring even more of the little critters. The fun does not stop there – you will also discover something called a Poke Stop. These are places where you can gather Poke balls, equipment, and even Poke eggs! Logically, the Poke eggs can only hatch after walking a certain distance. Who would have thought exercise could be so much fun?

To make the game better still, Pokémon Go can be played in teams. Once in a team, you can then allocate your Pokémon to a gym. This is where things get a bit shady. The team must be all–powerful in order to defeat an opposing team in battle. Be warned, should you lose, the victorious team will take over the gym.

So, if you haven’t yet downloaded this app – what are you waiting for? A cautionary message for those of you with addictive personalities – there have been reports of some people actually quitting their jobs in order to play Pokémon Go All The Time. For most of us, however, it probably won’t be that good.
