Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana delivered a spectacular flamboyant collection full of colour and celebrated Italian culture and style featuring Ella Richards, Taylor Hill, Aya Jones, Kinga Razjak and Katlin Aas on the runway. Check out everything you need to know about the Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2016 show below.
Just before the show started, guests were in for a full Italian treat as the street-side had a fruit stand, which is very popular in Italy, the fruit stand had fresh fruits including lemons, tomatoes, and apples. Model Maja Salamon opened the show wearing a beautiful yellow a-line dress with the words “Italia is Love” written across the chest and some of Italy’s top tourist attractions like gondola rides, the cathedral of Santa Maria di Fiore embroidered below.
Dolce & Gabbana’s spring collection was vibrant and there were several references to Italy, from the Coliseum, that came across the bodice of a gown, to the Leaning Tower of Pisa set over one of the model’s hip on a striped dress. Even Michelangelo’s David made an appearance on one of the pieces showcased. They fully celebrated Capri, Venice, Rome, and even Florence on the garments showcased; movie stills of Italian stars and pictures of all kinds of handmade and homemade souvenir embroideries. “This is where the first boutiques came from,” explained Gabbana. “We think it was the beginning of Italian fashion. And it was because foreigners saw it and liked it! Sometimes we Italians don’t appreciate all the things we have here!”.
The show featured model selfies straight off the Dolce & Gabbana Spring ’16 runway. Dolce & Gabbana posted the photos of their models straight onto their official social media platforms. “You see?” exclaimed Gabbana. “We don’t believe in fashion for trends any more. We want to show emotion. Just enjoy!” Models snapped selfie photos while walking the runway. See some of their amazing selfie photos below.
