After just two days in the I’m A Celebrity camp, 22-year-old Jack Maynard has chosen to leave. This move arose following allegations concerning Jack’s old Twitter account, of which emerged straight after the first episode aired. According to news sources, ITV had to make the decision to remove him from the show.
A representative for Jack stated, “In the last few days Jack Maynard has been the subject of a succession of media stories which, given his position as a contestant on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here filmed in the Australian jungle, with no contact to the outside world, he has been unable to respond to.”
The representative further added, “Since it is only fair that everyone should be aware of any allegations made against them and should also have the right to defend themselves, it was agreed that it would be better to bring him out of the show.”
Furthermore, “Jack agrees with this decision which was made by his representatives and ITV and thanks everyone who has supported him in the show this far.”
ITV’s I’m A Celebrity’s announcement states, “Due to circumstances outside camp Jack has had to withdraw from the show.”
Several news sources state that the allegations concern tweets of both homophobic and racist language that apparently were sent from his old Twitter account between 2011 – 2013.
According to Metro News, a representative for the YouTube star announced that, “Jack is ashamed of these tweets,” and that, “many were deleted a long time ago.”
There has been no mention as yet, on who will be replacing Jack in the jungle.
