Marc Jacobs delivered a remarkable show on the last night of New York Fashion Week. For the first time, Marc Jacobs moved his show from the Park and Lexington Avenue Armories to the Ziegfeld Theatre, the showcase was a beautiful atmosphere filled with fountain drinks, popcorn and a Playbill for every guest. Celebrities including Dianna Agron, Debi Mazar, Bette Midler, Winona Ryder, Sandra Bernhard, and more were all present to support Jacobs. Natalie Westling got to open the show in a cobalt sweater with a high school band-like harp emblem on the front, worn over a glittering red, white, and blue slit skirt. See more below.
Models included Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski, Irina Shayk, Bella Hadid, Guinevere van Seenus, Karen Elson, Joan Smalls, Anna Ewers, Jamie Bochert, Saskia de Brauw, Caroline Trentini, Adriana Lima and longtime Jacobs muse and musician Beth Ditto. There was a strong Americana theme throughout, which was also seen in Marc Jacob’s collection, this included the sailor suits, varsity jackets, camera-patterned intarsia knits evoking the glory days of Old Hollywood and majorette ensembles. Although the runway wasn’t the standard runway format as the models walked down a red carpet outside and then entered the theater’s main room where guests were seated, it was a spectacular showcase filled with lots of fun and things to do- Inside the program was an important Marc Jacobs quiz with questions like “What color were @themarcjacobs’s Calvins on his Instagram leak?” and “Which city did Kate Moss and Marc film their ‘Basic Bitches’ video?” What a perfect way to get the attendees involved, a show I’ll definitely want to be involved in.
Marc Jacobs cinematic Ziegfeld Theatre show definitely did not disappoint and he brought out some of the biggest names in the industry and provided them with the best treatment. Although, casting director Anita Bitton included many newcomers into the show; Damaris Goddrie and Kiki Willems were standouts— the night belonged to supermodels with decades of experience like Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Irina Shayk, Alek Wek, Karen Elson, Catherine McNeil, Guinevere van Seenus.
