We can all agree that every style and trend has been thought out meticulously this fashion season. Every designers collection demonstrates their creativity, history and current life experiences. A trend for this Spring/Summer 2014 that has been repeated and perfected are pastels. Maybe it is the girly exterior, the bright colors or my childhood love for my pastel pink Gameboy advance, but this trend has caught me buy the leather jacket – I adore it. When I usually think of pastels, I would envision girly flowy pieces but instead we have colors that exude femininity while having tailor cut defining patterns.
This years Spring/Summer 2014 collections at London, Paris, New York and Milan Fashion Week, showcased how delicate yet feisty pastels can be. Every dress had something cutting edge and every tailored suit had an added elegance. It was all about the balance between sweet and edgy that made pastels the true trend setter of the season. Burberry Prorsum Womenswear Spring/Summer 2014 has inspired my wardrobe for many reasons this season. Their coats have allowed me to brighten up my closet to a new extreme. From my Zara yellow double breasted pastel coat to my H&M sheer lilac shirt, pastels are what you need to put a spring in your step. From Jason Wu and Prabal Gurung, every pastel color decorated a diverse piece, from their cut out jumpsuits to their fitted jumpers and midi full skirts. Everything is just pure elegance with a trend savvy touch. Pastels should be everyone’s go to look this Spring/Summer fashion season. The softness of the colors and the chicness of the high fashion designs have been transferred over to the high street. Whether you are shopping at Topshop or Rebecca Taylor, COS or John Galliano, you can find the pastel look you need, whatever the price range.
I have been looking for a style with glamour and distinctiveness for quite some time and pastels fit the bill to utter perfection. The sleek shades, patent bags and my pastel purple gel extension nails, project this trend I hold so dearly. It is bright, it is feminine and it embodies all things mod. If a new wearable yet classic trend is what you need, collect your wages and head to the high street. Whether you are fresh out of school or 25 years in your job, this pastel glory will get you out of any fashion slump you may be experiencing. There is a reason why so many designers put this look into their Spring/Summer collections and we all just have to wear it. Summer is coming; the sun is out, so, get out those soft-hued colors you have been waiting to wear. Anyone who’s anyone is pulling off this trend and it has proved to be designer and fashion icons favorites, so why should we miss out?
