Rihanna Covers Paper Magazine ‘Break the Rules’ Issue

It’s been almost ten years since Rihanna graced her first Paper magazine cover back in August 2007. Just when she released her impressive third album Good Girl Gone Bad featuring smash single “Umbrella.”

Back then, Rihanna was at a turning point in her career, just as the title implies, she was beginning to find herself, her voice and sense of style. “Good Girl Gone Bad really represents my liberation,” she told Paper Magazine at the time.

For Paper Magazine’s March issue, Rihanna goes Suicide Squad on us, sporting a futuristic glam punk looks. See more below.

Since Good Girl Gone Bad, Rihanna has dropped five more albums, including last year’s hit Anti; named CFDA’s Fashion Icon of the Year in 2014; she has designed two Fenty Puma collections and will debut her third in Paris on March 6th; received the MTV Video Vanguard Award last August; and she recently traveled all the way to Cambridge, MA, earlier this week to accept Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year Award. celebsofcolor:

Furthermore, Our Bajan beauty is part of the all-female Ocean’s Eight cast, starring alongside heavyweights actors including; Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway and Cate Blanchett,

For Paper Magazine’s spring #BreakTheRules issue, here’s what the publication had to say- our team took inspiration from her budding acting career and chameleon-like powers of transformation to cast her as a high fashion clerk in a bodega of the future. “We thought it would be interesting to put a superstar like Rih in such an everyday surrounding,” says Shannon Stokes, who styled the shoot alongside Farren Fucci. “And Farren added the ‘future’ angle to give it a twist, so it became a challenge to envision what a girl who worked there might look like,” he added.
