With season five of American Horror Story on Netflix, Lady Gaga is back in the limelight. After donning countless questionable outfits at the beginning of her music career, and releasing many weird and wonderful music videos, we’re here to tell you why Gaga could be the most influential artist of 2016.
When I say to you ‘there is nobody like me, and there never was’, that is a statement I want every woman to feel and make about themselves.
Lady Gaga is to be honoured as Billboard’s 2015 Woman of the Year. As last year’s event celebrated successful female artists including Aretha Franklin, Idina Menzel and Taylor Swift, Gaga has surpassed these musicians to become this year’s winner.
‘Billboard’s Woman of the Year has always represented the finest in music, and the anointing of a key influential figure who drove the conversation for that year. No one embodies that more than Lady Gaga in 2015,’ says Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s entertainment group.
The six-time Grammy-winning pop star also paid incredible tribute to Julie Andrews and The Sound of Music earlier in the year at the 2015 Oscars. Ditching her usual theatrics, Gaga finally showed the world her strong voice and pure musical talent.
With this in mind, who can deny that Gaga has had a great career? Since starting her pop career she has released four number one albums, twenty one singles, and even currently holds thirteen Guinness World Records from Most Searched for Female on the Internet to Best Selling Digital Album in the UK. And Gaga shows no signs of slowing down. Having confirmed the release of her album to be next year, we can tell that Lady Gaga will be one of the most influential women in music in 2016.
