Victoria Secret is a famous worldwide lingerie store selling absolutely anything and everything a girl needs for her wardrobe! They have recently announced that Zuri Tibby, would be taking over as spokesmodel for their PINK line, becoming the first black face of the label. What a fantastic news!
While Victoria’s Secret have used black models in their runway and mainline collection ads before, Tibby is the first to present PINK marking a huge moment for both the 21-year-old and the lingerie brand. “It feels really amazing,” Zuri told Cosmopolitan.com of achieving her longtime dream of being a Victoria’s Secret model. “Joining such an amazing brand is such an honor. It’s really cool to see everything coming together in my career.”
Along with her excitement at the achievement, Zuri believes being in the public eye allows her to represent for other young girls who look like her.“I feel very proud and honoured that a lot of other women of colour look up to me,” Zuri said. “It’s so important to inspire people. When young girls look at magazines and advertisements, it’s important to see girls that look like them. It’s very encouraging.”
Believe it or not, Zuri has a strong passion for natural hair, following from Maria Borges who wore hers naturally when walking on the Victoria’s Secret catwalk last year.“In most of my photo shoots, I wear my natural straight hair”, Zuri says, “I think my hair is beautiful either way. “Natural hair is something everyone should embrace. It’s celebrated more now than it ever has been before.”
Zuri is obviously one to watch considering previous PINK faces Alessandra Ambrosio, Behati Prinsloo, and Elsa Hosk have all gone on to become Victoria’s Secret Angels. She also seems like a very good role model and will definitely make a difference to the PINK company.
