Kylie Minogue Won Legal Battle Over Her Name with Kylie Jenner

World famous and much loved Kylie Minogue has just won a legal battle with Kim Kardashian’s half-sister Kylie Jenner, to keep autonomy over her name.

Cast your mind back to 2014 and you may recall the news that Kylie Jenner (a reality TV star whom appears in the show, Keeping Up with The Kardashians) applied to trademark the name ‘Kylie’.

The nineteen-year-old metaphorically butted heads with 48-year-old Kylie Minogue over the matter. Ms Minogue was angered by Miss Jenner’s attempt to take control of their shared name, and so she had her lawyers draft up and send a (very) long list to the US Patent and Trademark Office, of reasons why this should not be allowed.

According to Metro News, the above-mentioned letter ‘described Kylie Jenner as a secondary reality television personality,’ whereas Kylie ‘was an internationally-renowned performing artist, humanitarian and breast cancer activist, and known worldwide simply as ‘Kylie’.’

According to various news sources, The Patent and Trademark Office has rejected Kylie Jenner’s application, however reports state an appeal has been requested. We can’t help but feel pleased for the Australian star, given the fact that she has spent years building her name.

This victory couldn’t come at a better time for Ms Minogue, given her recent split from her 34-year-old fiancé, Joshua Sasse. Kylie allegedly ended the relationship due to reports that Joshua strayed with actress Marta Milans.

The pair recently hit the headlines, announcing they were to hold-off on their marriage ceremony until Australia grants the right to civil marriage for gay people.

Kylie took to Instagram to confirm the split: “Thank you for all your love and support throughout this recent chapter in my life.” Kylie also added, “Thank you for your love and understanding with the news that Josh and I have decided to go our separate ways. We wish all the best for each other as we venture towards new horizons. #thesunalwaysrises.”

We wish Kylie Minogue much happiness for the future.
