Rihanna unveils her latest footwear collaboration with Puma: the Fenty Trainer, following her debut show at New York Fashion Week, where she walked down the catwalk for the first time in her new role as creative director for Puma.
Crafted in a lightweight style, this new footwear release exudes a futuristic silhouette, finished in a low top style, likened to the Nike Roche’s but with a striking, extended tongue and added textured detail in various fabric aesthetics. The Trainer has been released in three tonal colours, ‘Whiteout,’ ‘Blackout’ and ‘Red Alert.’
Rihanna who has been an icon in the creative world, has been praised by fashion critics and artists such as Kanye West for her NYFW debut Fenty x Puma collection. Rihanna’s ability to combine sportswear with fashion and urban, feminine appeal has resulted in Puma reporting their sales to be better-than expected – earning the German firm an increase in profits of 2.6 per cent to £8.4 million, with footwear sales rising by 11 per cent.
Trainers designed by Rihanna first went on sale in the second half of 2015, hitting the fashion world by storm. Her iconic design called ‘The Creeper’ sold out within hours after they were released, leading them to be re-issued in three more colours. The Puma Creeper was a unique remix of the classic Puma Suede, adding a platform sole, inspired by NYC Punk-rock style, with a touch of urban flare. Rih’s rebellious side has shone through her new collection, being fearless to reinvent and put forward innovative designs.
