Whatta face is the 3rd and last installment of Face The Facts series- An insight into how to distinguish what face shape you have and what to do to enhance or distract away from certain areas. Today’s emphasis is Long faces and heart- shaped faces.
Oval face shape- Oval shaped faces have rounded edges and balanced vertical proportions. Said to be the perfect, ideal shape for hair and make-up styles due to the proportions being in perfect balance. The shape is a make-up artists dream down to the sheer fact that the time can be spent on creating a masterpiece instead of spending time contouring and highlighting the face so it appears as oval as possible. One of the characteristics is that the jawline is often a bit more narrow than the temple line. Oval face shapes also tend to have very prominent cheekbones. When applying make-up to an oval face I would suggest to emphasise the cheek area with a highlighter and to contour the area under the cheeks which in turn creates a flattering effect. Celebrities who are lucky enough to have not only fame and fortune but also have an oval shaped face are, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé Knowles.
Diamond shaped face- This face shape has a narrow forehead and a chin with wide cheekbones. The shape appears chiselled because of the narrow forehead that tapers at the top, narrow chin along with slightly pointy cheekbones. The width is increased at either side of the forehead and at the angels of the jaw by applying a highlighter, the point of the chin can be shaded to reduce the length. Celebrities who share a diamond shaped face, Madonna, Kourtney Kardashian, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Hurley.
