Whoopi Goldberg Launches Marijuana Based Brand For PMT

All women know the hell that is PMT. However, for most of us, its nothing a few ibuprofen, paracetemols, and a nice warm water bottle can’t fix. Apparently, Whoopi Goldberg has other ideas, as she has just launched a selection of pot-based products in order to help people medicate their way through their period.

The hugely successful actress, comedian, and television host recently announced the launch of medical marijuana products for women’s problems. For this venture, Whoopi joined forces with edibles maker, Maya Elisabeth, formed the brand ‘Whoopi & Maya’, and is set to sell marijuana-infused items to ease period pain. One question, well actually two: Is this legal, and will people claim the actress is a drug-pusher?

The answer to this is no, if you live in certain areas of America. Marijuana has been decriminalized in some U.S states.

What is more, Whoopi isn’t even the first to initiate such an enterprise. In 2014, the family of amazing legendary musician Bob Marley partnered with a firm, thus bringing about the first ever marijuana label called Marley Natural. Since then, several celebrities have jumped on the hash wagon, including (and unsurprisingly) Snoop Dogg’s brand, Leafs By Snoop.

Although these marijuana brands are generalised, Whoopi Goldberg is insistent that hers is not. As far as Ms Goldberg is concerned, her line is aimed at treating period pain. Whoopi Goldberg told USA Today, “I want to go nice and slow with this. I don’t want this to be a joke to people. It’s not a joke to women.”

Ms Goldberg’s creation of the brand may well stem from experiencing really terrible PMT. The awesome actress stated that her daughters and granddaughters ‘inherited my horrific menstrual cramps.’

As yet there is no conclusive evidence of the potential benefits of marijuana for the relief of period cramps, but this could be due to a lack of funding.

Whoopi Goldberg said that she had no intention of creating a recreational marijuana brand for people to get high. All this may sound well and good, but if you suffer from agonising PMT and wish to give it a go, you will have to move to the U.S. After all, there’s nothing worse than period cramps in a prison cell!
