A New Year, A New Taste of Spain at The Cumberland

On 2 January 2026, The Cumberland Hotel will strike a new chord on London’s culinary stage with the opening of Lírica, a Spanish tapas restaurant where flavour, atmosphere, and artistry come together in effortless harmony.

Taking its name from the Spanish word for lyrical poetry, Lírica embodies a philosophy of balance—between food and drink, tradition and creativity, intimacy and energy. Set within the iconic Marble Arch hotel, the 75-seat restaurant offers a refined yet relaxed retreat from the rhythm of central London, inviting guests to slow down and savour the pleasure of sharing.

Open for both lunch and dinner, Lírica’s menu is inspired by the vibrant culinary landscapes of Spain. Designed around sharing plates and tapas, it celebrates the simplicity and generosity of Spanish dining. Guests can expect sun-drenched vegetables and heritage tomatoes, Ibérico ham croquettes, classic tortillas, and beloved staples such as gambas, gazpacho, padrón peppers, chipirones, patatas bravas, and pan con tomate. Desserts continue the journey with indulgent homemade Basque cheesecake and freshly made churros, bringing a comforting sweetness to the table.

Every dish at Lírica is crafted with care, honouring the ingredients, time-honoured techniques, and artisanal producers behind them. The result is a menu that feels both authentic and approachable, designed to encourage conversation, connection, and the joy of communal dining.

Complementing the food is Lírica’s own dedicated bar, featuring a curated selection of limited-edition cocktails including sangria, a José Collins, and vanilla margaritas. An exclusively Spanish wine list anchors the drinks offering, alongside a carefully chosen range of spirits and beers from around the world, ensuring every plate has its perfect pairing.

The restaurant’s interiors echo its culinary philosophy, balancing warmth with sophistication. Earthy tones of terracotta, mustard, and olive are layered with natural wood, soft lighting, and rich textures to create an inviting, intimate atmosphere. Curved bars and plush seating introduce a touch of retro elegance, while abstract art, sculptural lighting, and eclectic details lend a contemporary edge. The result is a space that feels both timeless and modern—stylish yet effortlessly welcoming.

Pedro da Silva, General Manager at The Cumberland Hotel, describes Lírica as a natural extension of the hotel’s creative spirit: “We’re excited to announce the opening of Lírica, a celebration of Spanish tapas and our shared love of music. The name draws inspiration from our musical history, translating the soul of lyrics into a Spanish culinary experience. Opening in January 2026, Lírica will serve authentic tapas inspired by the vibrant neighbourhoods of Spain, perfectly paired with wines and beers sourced exclusively from Spain.”

Located in one of London’s most coveted destinations, The Cumberland Hotel continues to champion the city’s cultural energy. Long associated with music legends, the hotel blends heritage with modern hospitality, offering 900 bedrooms, extensive meeting and event spaces, and an evolving food, beverage, and entertainment programme designed for both leisure and corporate guests.

With the opening of Lírica on 2 January 2026, The Cumberland adds a new verse to its story—one that celebrates flavour, music, and the simple pleasure of coming together around a table. Follow on the Instagram to keep up to date.
