Mayfair’s Most Indulgent Italian Sunday Buffet at Bocconcino

Bocconcino Mayfair is giving Sundays an indulgent Italian makeover with the return of its revamped Il Grande Sunday Buffet. The Berkeley Street favourite brings a taste of Mediterranean luxury to the heart of London, with an abundant spread of Italian classics, fresh seafood and traditional Sunday roasts, all accompanied by live music.

From the moment you arrive, the warm and attentive team makes you feel instantly welcome before guiding you downstairs, where the wood-fired oven is glowing, the buffet is piled high and enchanting live music fills the room. There’s an infectious energy to it all — convivial and unmistakably Italian, setting the scene for an afternoon of feasting and embracing the Italian way of dining. You can start with an irresistible selection of Italian cured meats and cheeses, potato gratin, pigs in blankets and seasonal greens.

The salad selection brings a fresh Mediterranean touch, with creamy mozzarella and heritage tomatoes, classic Caesar, pear with gorgonzola and chicory, colourful Mediterranean vegetables, and refreshing combinations of cucumber, tomato, sweetcorn and avocado. It’s a truly generous spread. No Italian feast would be complete without a brilliant secondo di pesce. At Bocconcino, the seafood really takes centre stage: glistening rock oysters, plump prawns, mussels, smoked and delicately dressed salmon, and, complete with lobster. Beautifully presented and abundant, it’s the kind of spread that truly keeps on giving.

Then comes the main event, where Italian indulgence meets the great British Sunday roast. Bocconcino’s signature thin-crust pizzas arrive fresh from the wood-fired oven, with classics including fiery Diavola, creamy Bufalina and a vegetarian option.

Freshly made Pasta is another highlight; from the exceptionally made truffle tagliatelle to the deeply comforting lasagna alla Bolognese bringing all the richness you’d expect from an Italian Sunday table.

For those craving the classic British roast, Slow-cooked roast beef is served with roast potatoes, cabbage, a perfectly puffed Yorkshire pudding and generous lashings of rich gravy.

To think we’ve seen it all, there was a mouth-watering spread of Italian and European favourites; mini berry tarts, rum baba, vanilla cheesecake and a rich chocolate brownie laced with salted caramel. Delicate bignè, generously filled with Chantilly cream, add a touch of Italian elegance as well as a classic tiramisu. On our visit, there was also a refreshing fruity strawberry sorbet and quite possibly one of the highlights of the dessert spread and the perfect finale to a suitably decadent Sunday feast.

Priced at £75 per person, the experience can be elevated with bottomless Prosecco for £98 per person or bottomless Champagne for £115 per person. What we love most about Bocconcino is that you don’t need a special occasion to make a reservation. It’s just as perfect for a leisurely Sunday brunch with family or friends as it is for birthdays, celebrations and those moments when you simply fancy making Sunday lunch feel a little more special. With generous Italian food, flowing drinks, live music and a stunning setting, Il Grande Sunday Buffet turns an ordinary Sunday into an occasion in itself.

Il Grande is truly an invitation to slow down, settle in and embrace the Italian art of Sunday dining. Available every Sunday from 12pm, the buffet is made for gathering with an abundant selection of Italian favourites to help yourself to, alongside freshly prepared hot dishes made to order from the kitchen. It’s relaxed, indulgent and exactly how a Sunday should be spent.
