We’ve been super excited about the highly anticipated November 5th release of Balmain for H&M, then the full collection leaks before the release date. We are talking about a full look book leak that has got us all crushing hard and talking about it. Read more below.
Apparently a woman with no ties to the fashion industry or in any way tied to Balmain or/and HM leaked the entire collection on her social media. Yes, on her social media account! Kathryn Swartz Rees who is based in Chicago and according to her website; “produces custom print and digital news media content,” posted on her Twitter account saying- “Posted a ton of #HMBALMAINATION pics on Instagram. Lots of pieces in this collab”.
This sounds cray and may just be a clever marketing ploy, however, the photos posted showcased footwear and accessories for men and women and apparel clothing that fits perfectly with Olivier Rousteing’s style and aesthetic, including some pieces worn by Jourdan Dunn, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid in the collection’s ad campaign. As expected, the collection featured dramatic pieces, including embellished jackets, sequin dresses, and statement shoes and accessories. There are also bomber jackets, jog bottoms, and boots that are sure to sell out immediately after they are released. So it is real guys…
In an interview with The Cut- Rees explained how she found the still-life images of the collection, which were not to be released by press until Oct. 19. “H&M’s site was indexed by Google and I happened to search at the right time using the right parameters,” she said over email. “All images were taken from that H&M URL. No surprise, that site is no longer live.” Rees also told The Cut that although the images are a “vast majority of the collection,” there are more items that will be available (in different colorways, for example) once the collab hits stores on Nov. 5. A rep for H&M provided the following statement: “Images from our Balmain x H&M collaboration have surfaced. We are pleasantly surprised by our fans positive reaction to the collection and we look forward to share more from the #HMBalmaination in the coming weeks”.
