China Bistro Ignites Ealing with Tangra Spice and 50% Off Food

After winning over diners across India and Dubai with its bold, spice-fuelled take on retro-Chinese cooking, China Bistro has officially landed in London, bringing the vibrant spirit of Tangra cuisine to Ealing Broadway. The 90-cover restaurant has now opened its doors, celebrating its arrival with a 50% off food soft launch until 14th November.

Where Hakka Woks Meet Indian Fire

China Bistro’s menu pays homage to Tangra, a neighbourhood in Kolkata where Chinese Hakka immigrants settled in the 1930s and began blending their culinary traditions with the fiery spices of India. The result is a thrilling fusion — a style of cooking that’s as comforting as it is adventurous, marrying wok-fired smokiness with bold, aromatic heat.

Guests can look forward to hand-folded dumplings, live robata grills, and shareable plates that capture the punch and playfulness of Tangra street food.

Start your meal with Honey Chilli Lotus Stem or the nostalgically named 1990’s Hakka Chilli Chicken — both perfect introductions to the cuisine’s characteristic sweet-spicy balance. The Smoked Chilli Paneer and Chicken Basil Dumplings showcase the kitchen’s finesse, while the robata grill brings fire-kissed bites like Togarashi Wagyu, Ebi Yaki (prawns glazed with honey and mustard), and Spicy Paneer Kushiyaki straight to the table.

For mains, expect flavour-packed favourites such as Kung Pao Chicken, Prawn Hunan Style, and Sliced Beef Black Pepper, best paired with a generous bowl of Wok-Tossed Hakka Noodles. To finish, desserts like Buddha’s Fu Mango Pudding, crispy honey-drizzled Darsaan, and Pistachio Cheesecake offer a sweetly indulgent finale.

Cocktails with a Kick

China Bistro’s drinks menu draws inspiration from the bustling backstreets of Shanghai, Tokyo, and Mumbai, creatively divided into imagined neighbourhoods such as Fermentation Lane and Spicy Alley.

Highlights include the Chinese Negroni, infused with rambutan and donating £1 from each sale to Ealing Foodbank; the Tamarind Chu Hi, with lemongrass Aperol and Prosecco; and the Chinese Old Fashioned, featuring coconut and charcoal-infused bourbon. Those with a sweet tooth can opt for Coffee & Conversations, a decadent dessert cocktail blending Frangelico, Kahlua and whipped cream.

The wine and sake list has been carefully curated to complement spice and umami, with a focus on organic, biodynamic, and low-intervention bottles from both Europe and Asia.

A Space to Savour

China Bistro’s interiors blend olive green and terracotta tones with timber and bronze accents, subtly nodding to the Terracotta Warriors. A central bar serves as the heart of the space, while the light-filled dining room at the rear creates a warm and welcoming setting for both intimate dinners and private celebrations.

Adding to the lively atmosphere, live music every weekend transforms the restaurant into a spirited late-night hangout — the perfect spot to unwind over cocktails and conversation.

Bringing Tangra to London

From its sizzling robata grills to its rhythm-filled weekends, China Bistro promises to bring the fire, flavour, and flair of Tangra cuisine to the heart of West London. Whether you’re a fan of Indo-Chinese food or simply seeking something new, this is one launch you’ll want to experience firsthand.
