Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s Heartbreaking news Shines Light On Pregnancy Loss

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend shared a tragic news on Instagram today. The couple currently have two kids, Luna and Miles; but also revealed that they had lost their third child due to pregnancy complications. In this heart-breaking social media post, Chrissy spoke about something several parents sadly experience but don’t talk much about.

“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough,” Teigen posted on social media, with black-and-white photographs of her clasping her hands in a prayer-like position. “We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital,” she continued, sharing photos of her holding baby Jack. “But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever. To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.”

“Driving home from hospital with no baby,” Teigen posted on Twitter. “How can this be real.” While Legend wrote: “We love you, Jack”. Teigen and Legend join other celebrities in sharing their loss; in a bid to end the stigma that surrounds discussing miscarriage.

“What nobody tells you is that miscarriage happens all the time, to more women than you’d ever guess, given the relative silence around it,” Michelle Obama wrote in her memoir, Becoming. “I learned this only after I mentioned that I’d miscarried to a couple of friends, who responded by heaping me with love and support and also their own miscarriage stories.” Beyoncé and Mariah Carey have equally shared their miscarriage stories.

The largest charity funding research into the prevention of baby loss charity, Tommy’s equally issued a statement on Instagram in support of the couple’s tragic news. “Choosing to share this experience and talking so openly at this stage in her grief takes a lot of courage, and we’re so grateful that Chrissy is #breakingthesilence. We hope that she can take some comfort in knowing that she is helping thousands of women all over the world feel less alone. #youarenotalone.” Other celebrities including; Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian West and Hailey Bieber also shared their condolences on social media.
