Due to the pandemic hitting the world hard this year, the MTV Video Music Awards looked a little different than usual. Honoring the best of music in 2020; this years event was hosted by Keke Palmer. However, the annual awards ceremony was held in COVID-safe outdoor arenas all across NYC. And though there were no live audiences this year; it was a star-studded event to remember. The night showcased all the glitz and glam we’ve been missing as well as incredible performances. Stars included; Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd, and more. The MTV Video Music Awards is the first major event to take place since the pandemic began, and despite all restrictions and social distancing; our favourite stars still stunned in style.
Presenting is one thing but with no audience around it must have been difficult; but Keke Palmer came through while serving several beautiful looks at the VMAs 2020 event.
Keke Palmer worked the green screen in an adorable minidress with an oversized bow and thigh slit.
Miley Cyrus looked glam in a strapless, see-through black mesh dress with shimmering silver paillettes. Paired with matching sheer gloves and strappy sandals, a red lip, and blonde mullet.
Sofia Carson brought the glamour in a scarlet red gown featuring a one-shoulder top fairytale chiffon skirt and dramatic ruffled waist detail. Paired with a bold diamond earrings and a matching ring.
Lady Gaga stunned in 9 looks and incredible face covering, while making history winning the first ever Tricon Award.
Gaga pretty much reminded us that wearing a mask is more than essential and could be fashionable too. She stunned in Christopher John Roger’s larger than life emerald ball gowns,Valentino Couture catsuits, and dominatrix-worthy latex from Vex Clothing, pairing with a custom face coverings plus more. Each look perfectly complemented the face coverings. “Gaga wanted this idea of mask-wearing and being socially distanced at the forefront, as a big message,” says Formichetti her stylist. “It doesn’t have to be this boring, suffocating thing; it’s fun for us. We’ve been doing it and we want to continue doing it because it’s right for today.”
