This cosy gem honours Bahrain’s rich culinary heritage; each plate is a heartfelt tribute to the flavours of the Gulf. Founded in 2012 by Chef Roaya Saleh, Villa Mamas brings the warm spirit of Bahraini hospitality to London, blending age-old recipes with modern Middle Eastern flair. With every bite, you’re transported to a family gathering with a lovingly prepared home-cooked meal.

Since its beginnings in Bahrain, Villa Mamas has grown into a global culinary destination, opening its London outpost in 2017, followed by locations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Blending elevated dining with a warm, communal spirit, it offers a soulful celebration of Middle Eastern flavours and heartfelt Gulf hospitality.

At the heart of it all is the inspiring Chef Roaya, a pioneer in modern Middle Eastern cuisine who has redefined how the world experiences Khaleeji food. I didn’t know what to expect from Bahraini cuisine, but Villa Mamas completely won me over—each dish more delicious than the last. Whether it’s Baba`s Tikka & Hummus honouring Chef Roaya’s father “Alsayyed” and his timeless recipe or Chicken Tahchin a Persian-style baked rice layered with saffron, yogurt-marinated chicken, and a crisp golden crust; every plate has a story. And dessert is also on another level— Khalejii Elba, modern twist on traditional milk pudding, Chef Roaya’s saffron and cardamom-infused flan captures the essence of Khaleeji flavours in a luxurious dessert.
