Alexander Wang takes his final bow at the Balenciaga show delivering a dreamy shade of white; simple but very sexy collection at Paris fashion week. The Balenciaga spring/summer 2016 show took place in Paris on Friday night with an array of supermodels and actresses walking around a pool wearing hotel bathroom type slippers in a staged church runway. The runway songs included Antony and the Johnsons’s romantic “Mysteries of Love”, Biggie, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac soundtrack. And the show ended with a bow from Wang who did not only sprint down the runway and break into dance but also pulled out his phone and took a selfie. See more below.
The beautiful Anna Ewers opened the show in a white, lace-trim romper with an oversize yoke and lace slippers. However, Anna wasn’t the only Wang muse to walk the runway; actresses Zoë Kravitz, Riley Keough, Suki Waterhouse, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Julia Garner, Bella Heathcote, Nicola Peltz also made an appearance on the runway. Every piece was a dreamy silky shade of white; a mix of ruffled silk dresses to loose fit trouser and crop top and those lace slippers are to die for. Every look simply came complete with white lace slippers with floral embellishments. The collection was inspired by the artisan of Paris fashion houses: “Balenciaga is a house known for innovation and I wanted to look at simple, humble cloth, and the craft of artisans.” The entirely white and ivory colour palette was down to a search “for purity,” rather than providing a blank slate for the next designer to fill. As for his departure. “I am very grateful for the opportunity and I’m excited for the next chapter,” he said with all smile backstage.
31-year-old, Alexander Wang wants to now concentrate on his own brand, he posted an image on Instagram saying ‘Do you want to start over?’ The collection shown on the catwalk marked 10 years of his label – concentrating on Wang’s signature looks. The Californian designer is now focusing on finding an investor for his own label which is without a doubt going to be an easy task for the talented long haired American designer.
