Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain show is always one of Paris Fashion Week’s greatest moment, the show has become a huge deal that the police had to shut down the entrance to Olivier’s Hotel Intercontinental venue. The SS16 presentation had supermodels like Doutzen Kroes, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn and more on the runway. Although Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West were missing in action, momager Kris Jenner and Gigi’s boyfriend Joe Jonas were present on the FROW. Without Kimye the show was still absolutely under control. Olivier Rousteing’s social media fame may not be at the same level with the Kardashians but when it comes to his designs, only few can come close.
Rousteing’s online presence made him the perfect candidate for the H&M collaboration which is going on sale next month, Rousteing stated: “While this 15-minute presentation is designed to create strong impressions and reactions, it’s during the upcoming six months when the designs will make their mark. Social media’s embrace of Balmain will provide us with daily reminders of the excitement of those who have found a new way to bypass traditional gatekeepers.”
Rousteing pieces this season came in shades of nude, suede and so much details in some with striking colours in white and blue. The macramé was full-on as usual, with the usual crystals, beads, and this time the ruffles were even more flamboyant than last seasons. Super clingy silhouette, cutouts and sheer paneling with waist trainer–size belts and huge shiny statement neck piece. Kendall Jenner slithered down the runway in a brown catsuit. Surely a look so tricky to pull off except you have that slender super long legs type body to carry it perfectly. Joan Smalls rocked a brown suede piece, the show’s best look, but very restrictive. There’s no doubt we will be seeing the likes of Kim Kardashian and other celebs wearing these pieces very soon, and we are now assured that this guy is going to sell millions at H&M.
