This autumn, afternoon tea takes a deliciously wicked turn at London Hilton on Park Lane, as Disney’s most notorious Villains inspire an enchanting new collection of culinary creations. From Maleficent’s dark magic to Dr Facilier’s shadowy schemes, the worlds of Disney’s most infamous characters come to life through a tempting array of imaginative treats, featuring poisoned apples, midnight carriages and deep-sea spells. Once Upon a Villain offers a darker twist on the hotel’s much-loved Disney Princess-inspired Afternoon Tea, inviting guests to step into a world where happily ever after takes an unexpected turn.
Created by Head Pastry Chef Sam Leatherby, winner of Bake Off: The Professionals, this latest chapter in the Royal Recipe Book brings a deliciously dramatic new chapter to the much loved Park Lane afternoon tea at Park Corner Brasserie.
We had the pleasure of experiencing it for ourselves, discovering a wonderfully imaginative take on this deliciously theatrical twist, where creative patisserie and indulgent flavours set the scene for an afternoon tea with a wickedly playful edge.
The experience began with a tempting selection of savoury bites, followed by indulgent flavours and imaginative twists on afternoon tea classics, each thoughtfully crafted with a touch of Disney magic and playful references to the iconic characters and stories we know and love.
From Gus-inspired cheese sandwiches with sweet onion marmalade and Cinderella’s pumpkin-carriage chicken sandwich to an irresistible line-up of villainous patisserie, Once Upon a Villain is a feast for the imagination as much as the appetite. Standout sweet treats include the Enchanting Apple, layering apple crumble sponge with caramelised apple and custard mousse, and The Fairest of Them All, pairing black carbon biscuit with single-origin chocolate ganache and cherry compote. For something a little more dramatic, the Mystic Top Hat combines black velvet cake, banana ganache and toffee, while the Deep Sea Swirl brings together chocolate shortbread, salted caramel crémeux, blackberry gel and vanilla mousse.
Even the scones get a mischievous makeover, with black cherry and blueberry varieties served alongside the classic plain, before the experience ends on a magical high with chocolate truffles presented in an elegant glass slipper. With its clever Disney references, theatrical presentation and imaginative flavours, this is far more than your typical afternoon tea. Whether you’re planning a special half-term outing with the children, looking for a Halloween treat or simply hoping to make a family day out in London feel extra special, Once Upon a Villain offers a wonderfully whimsical experience for Disney fans of all ages.
Available daily from 12.30pm to 7pm at Park Corner Brasserie, London Hilton on Park Lane, the afternoon tea costs £70 per adult and £45 per child. For a little seasonal magic with a deliciously wicked twist, this is one fairy tale worth stepping into.
