Moments of 2015 to Remember

It’s reached that time of the year, when Facebook brings that annoying notification “ Your Year in Review”. Time to reflect on what went well, what wasn’t so great and of course, how to make 2016 even better. In the land of celebrity we bring you moments to remember of 2015.

The Late Late Show James Corden – We all love when a Brit makes it in the US, a sense of patriotism, awe sweeps over us. The pride and passion are evident to see. James Corden is America’s new favourite TV personality and a surprising one at that. James Corden does not fit their usual checklist. Nonetheless he has been a major success starting with his hit on Broadway. Most recently he’s been the one man band on The Late Late show, which in itself is an honour. Karaoke carpooling with musicians has been the most popular, dueting their songs with them the list includes Jennifer Hudson, Mariah Carey and Steve Wonder to name a few. We say go Corden fly the British flag high.

VMAs – Nicki Minaj calls out Miley Cyrus in this year’s VMA’s yes AKWARD. The show began with Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj performing together patching things up with their beef earlier this year. It all started from when Nicki made a comment about the glass ceiling between black and white female artists, to which Miley waded in with further comments, even though the original statement was not directed at her. Yes messy we know, but the fact she pulled her up in front of millions of viewers to see Miley’s reaction was priceless. Do not play with Nicki 0 to 100 real quick.

Kanye West – As if the night at the VMA’s was not jam-packed with drama already, a tipsy Kanye had to wade in. Yes Mr Kanye West decided to use the VMA platform to declare his candidacy for president. There is nothing more to add to that, make what you will of it it’s Kanye.

Netflix and Chill – The terminology Netflix and Chill reached a whole new level, a level we were not ready for. If you weren’t clued up already, it refers to what you do with a love interest whilst you watch Netflix. Fill in the blanks; we’ve all been there.

One Direction – The fans of one direction just about coped, when Zayn decided to make a shocking exit, we all know bands don’t last forever, but we all thought it would be Harry to bow out first. With the reasons for Zayn leaving still not clear, the band made a double whammy announcement, “hiatus” code word for were splitting up. With their last performance on where it all began on X-factor. If you are a 1D fan, we send our condolences.

Caitlyn – On to groundbreaking moments, the rumours and the Chinese whispers became reality. Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn. First picked up by Wendy Williams, the transformation happened right before our eyes but was definitely one of the most shocking moments from the Kardashian clan. Caitlyn gave a heartfelt interview of what it felt like to be a woman trapped in a mans body and living a lie for most of her life. The founders of reality TV do know how to keep their audience on their toes.

A historical ruling especially across the bible belt of America. Social media erupted with rainbow flags and hash tags in support.

Viola Davis – Another momentum of greatness Viola Davis becomes the first African-American to win an Emmy for best actress in the drama How to Get Away with Murder. Wow did she blow us away with her speech, it touched on the context of diversity in Hollywood, yes the same struggle Nicki Minaj brought up, which Miley failed to understand.
